Avoiding Burst Pipes

During winter months, unless preventative actions are taken, water in pipes within your house can freeze and cause the pipes to burst causing huge amounts of damage to your home. Tenants are contractually bound to take steps to avoid this from happening and are liable to cover the cost of any damage caused to the property.

Avoiding Frozen Pipes

In the winter months, you should have the heating set to an appropriate temperature at all times, even during the night or if you are not home. If you all leave your house for the Christmas break, make sure to leave your heating on with the thermostat set at a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius.

You may also want to turn the water off at the stop cock so that if pipes do burst there will be minimal damage.

If you do experience frozen pipes for any reason get in touch with your landlord or Purple Frog, whoever normally deals with maintenance in your home.
